Hi,

I would like to thank all the following people for responding to my question:

Eugene Kramer
Benjamin Cline
Swee-Chuan Khoo
Rich Kulawiec
Thad MacMillan
Reto Lichtensteiger

My original question concerned relating SunOS partition name to Solaris
slice number:

>I have few external hard disks that are previously formatted and
partitioned >under SunOS 4.1.4. I am currently in the process of migrating
from SunOS 4.1.4 >to Solaris 2.5.1 and would like to mount these hard disks
under Solaris 2.5.1. > SunOS uses alphabet to name disk partition while
Solaris uses number to >represent disk slice. How to translate SunOS
partition name to Solaris slice >number in order to mount SunOS partitioned
harddisk under Solaris?

The answer is simple. Slice 0 to slice 7 in Solaris corresponds to
partition a to partition h in SunOS.

Rich Kulawiec also pointed out that there is a reversal of SCSI devices 0
and 3 between SunOS and Solaris; SCSI devices 1 and 2 stay the same under
both. e.g. sd0a should be translated to c0t3d0s0 instead of c0t0d0s0 and
sd3a corresponds to c0t0d0s0 instead of c0t3d0s0.

Thanks again for your help.
