The Solution:
Configure machines using scripts:
1- Setup the future replica as a client
root_master# nisclient -c fut-replica
fut-replica# nisclient -i -h
fut-replica# reboot
2- ...after reboot, setup as a replica
fut-replica# /usr/sbin/rpc.nisd
root_master# nisserver -R -d domain.com. -h fut-replica
