SUMMARY: external speakers in SS5

The question was how to use external pc speakers in a Sparc 5. I had
plugged them into the earphone jack and the sound still came out the
internal speaker.

The answer given by everyone was to use the audio tool in
/usr/openwin/bin, which oddly I don't have installed at the moment so
I can't verify the answer.
