Hi,
Thankx for the usual swift response.

Most replys correctly suggested that twisting the mousepad 90 degrees
creates this problem.

This was in this case not the problem. This is a fairly new sparc 10 with a
new type 5 keypoard-mouse.

A type 5 mouse does NOT work with an older type 4 keypad.

After switching to a new type 5 mousepad it works again.

the most pinpointing reply was from Hans Schaechl.

Thanks a lot Hans.

Two possible reasons:

1. Somebody turned the mousepad 90 degrees. Turn it back and
the mouse should work in both directions again.

2. You got a mousepad with the wrong painting on it. We once had
some older type 4 mousepads and tried to run the stype 5 mouse
on them and it only worked in 1 direction.

Thanks to all of you that suggested twisting the mousepad, I should have
mentioned I already tried that in the original request for help.

Quite a few suggested this, thanks to:
