The references that were provided were:

ftp://ftp.cs.wisc.edu/ghost/gsfaq.txt
http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/index.html (Ghostscript WWW page)
http://www.stokely.com/unix.sysadm.resources/disk.printing.html#printing.link
I found Thomas Merz's manual to be the most useful. There is a link to it in
http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/index.html
I was able to compile and link it. The problem I am now having is I am
trying to add support for an Epson Stylus Color 800. I assume that the
st800 or stcolor driver should work with that printer. When I tried to build
it again, after adding st800 and stcolor in DEVICE_DEVS6), I got the
following error:
make: Fatal error: Don't know how to make target `st800'
When I read some more documentation, I noticed those drivers are not
available on Unix. I welcome any ideas you might have. If I figure
out what to do (besides buy another printer) I will post a follow-up.
Again, thanks to all that replied for your help.
