The ParForCE Project Technology Transfer Workshop
January 15-16, 1996, Madrid, Spain
Accommodation
Hotels:
The main hotel suggested for accommodation is
Aparto-Hotel Rosales,
Marqués de Urquijo, 23
28008 Madrid
Metro (Subway) station: "Arguelles"
Phone +34 1 5420351
Fax +34 1 5597870
where we have negotiated a discount over the standard price. This is a
nice but not very big hotel and thus the number of rooms is limited,
so please reserve with them as soon as possible. In order to provide
accommodation for most of participants three different types of room
are offered:
- Suite (3): Large room with separate living-room. 15.000ESP
- Estudio Doble uso (14): Large studio for single or double
occupancy. 11.000ESP
- Estudio Individual (3): Ordinary studio for single occupancy.
Good price but bed is a convertible sofa (not as comfortable as a real bed).
10.000ESP
The number in brackets is the number of available rooms of each
type at this time. Estudio Doble uso and Suite can have double occupancy at
an additional charge of 2000ESP.
Another less costly (but not as nice) hotel very near
Aparto-Hotel Rosales is
Hotel Tirol
Marqués de Urquijo, 4
28008 Madrid
Metro (Subway) station: "Arguelles"
Phone +34 1 548 1900
Fax +34 1 541 3958
Here, there are two types of rooms:
- Doble: double, 9.550ESP
- Individual: single, 7640ESP
There is no problem in principle with the number of rooms needed. No
discount has been obtained at this point over standard prices but it could
be possible if many rooms are reserved.
Note that the prices for both hotels do not include VAT, which is 6% extra.
For those of you who attended the second ParForCE review, the
suggested hotels are the same as then.
If you have another favourite hotel in Madrid please use it of course,
but it would be nice if it is not too remote from the suggested ones
becuse we may use the Aparto-Hotel Rosales as a meeting-point for
dinner, etc.
Getting to the hotels from the airport:
- TAXI:
going by taxi is the easiest thing and also of course the most
expensive. However, price is not unreasonable (and it is certainly
convenient if more than one person is traveling). It should not be
much more than ESP 3500.
- Public transportation:
take the airport bus to the end ("Colon Square"). Get on the subway
(called "metro" in Madrid; the entrance is all the way across the
square, by the Barcklays Bank offices) and take it straight to
"Arguelles" (line 4). It is only four stops. Hotel is just a block
down on "Marques de Urquijo".
Hotel Reservation:
Please contact the hotel of your choice,
preferably by fax, indicating the type of room, date of arrival and
departure. Please also mention the time of arrival if you are arriving
late at the hotel the first night.
Please mention "Facultad de
Informática" to get the prices mentioned above. If you have
any problems, please contact parforce-at-upm@clip.dia.fi.upm.es.
