Original Question:
How do I make the fonts larger for messages and menus using Netscape
4.04 and Solaris 2.6 ?
Answers:
I had forgotten to mention I was in CDE but that makes little
difference - only which files to modify.
1. Thanks to Scott McDermott for the answer I used.
Modify .xinitrc ( or your .dtprofile if using CDE) adding:
xset +fp /usr/openwin/X11/fonts/75dpi
xset fp rehash
Of course you may substitute other fonts in place of 75dpi.
2. Thanks to Jim Robertori for the next solution.
There is a Solaris 2.6 patch, 105633-05.tar.Z that also addresses the
problem.

I have added the following to .Xdefaults
Netscape*XmLGrid.fontList:\
-*-helvetica-medium-r-*-*-*-140-*-*-*-*-iso8859-*,\
-*-helvetica-bold-r-*-*-*-140-*-*-*-*-iso8859-*=BOLD,\
-*-helvetica-medium-o-*-*-*-140-*-*-*-*-iso8859-*=ITALIC
and it does increase the size of the fonts that cannot be increased in
any other way.Your mileage may vary.
I could not get this to work but I may have had a typo.
Thanks again to all. Sorry if I missed anyone.
