I need some help in getting a Solaris 2.6 system up and running. I
install the software on a Ultra 170E system, but the system hangs on
startup. The place that it hangs is related to multicast setup in
S72inetsvc. I have the system up and running, after commenting out the
multicast startup info in S72inetsvc.
The big question is am I limiting myself by not running multicast and
the other is why the system started to hang at multicast?
The Answer
Check the /etc/nsswitch.conf file and make sure that the host portions
has files and then dns. The system is haning trying to resolve its
name.
Thanks to all the folks who helped with the problem.
