Well, it turned out to be an RTFM question....

My original question:

>I'm building wuftpd on a Solaris 2.5 system, and I'm trying to set up
>/dev/zero and /dev/tcp in the chroot'd anonymous ftp directory tree so
>that ls will work. This is probably a novice question, but obviously
>just building a symlink won't work, as the /devices directory isn't
>accessible in the chroot'd environment. So I guess I'm asking how to
>copy those device files, or set up a link that will work through chroot
>so that I can do this. Any help would be appreciated, and a summary will
>be posted.

The answer, from Karl Vogel:

The in.ftpd man entry has a script you can run to set up devices for a
chrooted directory.

Thanks to Karl and to anyone whose mail is on the way!
