Hi to all,

my ORIGINAL QUESTION was :

> 1- Does anybody know if SLIP (with slattach utility) is available for Solaris 2.X ?
> 2- Which PPP other than asppp, for Solaris 2.X , and (possibly) the related differences ?

ANSWERS and SOLUTIONS.

Sun doesn't provide SLIP with Solaris.
In public pomain resources, the best solutions could be dp (available at any good ftp archives).
>From Celeste Stokely : dp also supports SLIP connections, but nothing about slattach utility.
There is also ppp-2.2/ppp-2.3b* that many people have reported good
success with.

A good commercial solution (both PPP and SLIP) is from Progressive Systems
(Morningstar).

A good pointer for serial connections is :
http://www.stokely.com/unix.serial.port.resources/ppp.slip.html

At the end of my investigation : A FURTHER QUESTION <<< ------------

It's still not so clear to me the best way/configuration to connect two sites (distance less than 1 Km) using a dedicated voice line with two 33.6 (or more ?) Kbps modem at the edges.
Any further suggestion ?

Thanks a lot (this list is great), in particular to all who responded :
