Experimental Results on CIAO-Prolog

• Two levels of task creation and spawning overhead (O):
  • Min: Ciao-Prolog shared memory implementation (few microseconds).

  • 5 milliseconds: hierarchical shared memory system or efficient implementation on a multicomputer with very fast interconnect.

• seq: sequential execution.
• ngc: parallel execution without granularity control.
• gc: naive granularity control.
• gct: adding test simplification.
• gcts: adding stopping granularity control.
• gctss: adding ``on-the-fly'' computation of data size.
